North Garrison Heights — PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center hosted its first St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving event on Dec. 17. At the fundraiser, 12 people had their heads shaved, bringing in more than $4,000 for childhood cancer research. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation hosts head-shaving events around the world to raise money for research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. The foundation has awarded $200 million in research grant funding since 2005. The barbers at the event were from King’s Barber Shop, 5620 N.E. Gher Road, Vancouver.
