Boys basketball: Columbia River 65, R.A. Long 56

Spencer Long scored 16 of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter as the Columbia River boys basketball team pulled away for a 65-56 win over R.A. Long on Thursday.

“It was a tough battle all the way,” Columbia River coach David Long said. “We had trouble stopping (Keoni) Mawae inside. … It was a 2- or 3-point game most of the first three quarters.”

R.A. Long led 39-38 after three quarters.

River got a boost from a pair of sophomores. Jack Armstrong scored 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting, and Evan Dirksen had six points and eight rebounds.

R.A. Long got 54 of its 56 points from three players — Coby Rothwell (21), Marcus Maryott (17) and Mawae (16).
