Ellsworth Springs — Evergreen Habitat for Humanity’s sixth annual Women Build Tea brought in more than $14,000 for the program’s next home build.

The keynote speaker at the event, held Dec. 3 and attended by more than 100 people, was Betsy Henning, founder and CEO of AHA, a creative agency and one of the largest women-owned businesses in the Portland area.

The event’s mission is to empower women to take action against impoverished living conditions by nurturing, recruiting and training women to build simple, decent and affordable homes.

“It is a great way to bring the women in our community together for such a wonderful cause,” Linda Reid, a longtime member of the Women Build Committee, said in a news release from the organization. “The success of the event is so heartwarming and is due to the hard work of some fabulous women in our community.”
