Jolly First Visit

The Columbian
Published: December 21, 2016, 4:55pm

Santa spends a lot of time sitting in his oversized green chair at Vancouver Mall, but was able to stretch out to accommodate a visit from Sawyer Shoemaker, who is all of 7 weeks old. Sawyer and his mother, Zandra, live in California but were in Vancouver Wednesday to celebrate his first Christmas with the family. Santa will be at the mall, on the lower level near J.C. Penney Co., from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, unless he’s out feeding the reindeer.

After then, of course, he will be traveling, with more stops scheduled than a Columbian newspaper carrier. Interested parties, young and old, can watch his journey on the web at http://www.noradsanta.org, courtesy of the North American Aerospace Defense Command. NORAD has tracked Santa since Dec. 24, 1955.
