Girls basketball: Mountain View 55, Capital 52

Katie Hurst scored 18 points, hit the go-ahead free throws and made a decisive steal as the Thunder won in Olympia.

Hurst hit two free throws to give Mountain View a 53-52 lead with less than 30 seconds to play.

Hurst stole the ball on Capital’s next possession, then hit two more free throws with 17 seconds to play.

Eva Winsheimer added 15 points for Mountain View, which overcame a 30-24 halftime deficit. The Thunder (1-4) also trailed by six points with three minutes left.

“I’m extremely happy,” Mountain View coach Dave McIntosh said. “We battled back and fought through adversity. We hadn’t practiced since last Monday because of the snow.”

Delani West scored 17 points to lead Capital (2-5).
