The Clark College men’s basketball team rolled through the competition this weekend, hosting an NWAC crossover tournament.
The Penguins concluded play with a 73-58 win over Blue Mountain of Pendleton, Ore., on Sunday afternoon to cap a 3-0 weekend at the O’Connell Sports Complex.
“It was a choppy week of practice, then we had three games in a row,” Clark interim coach Kevin Johnson said in regards to the weather hassles. “I was just pleased with the good effort.”
Luke Osborn had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds for Clark (6-2), winners of five games in a row.
Ozzie George added 12 points and eight rebounds, and Michael Hill had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Clark outrebounded Blue Mountain 40-27, handing the Timberwolves (1-6) their fourth consecutive loss.
“Ozzie had a good tournament,” Johnson said. “He had no turnovers, made lots of hustle and loose ball plays (on Sunday). He’s really making a difference on the scoreboard.”
Johnson also said point guard Ty Cleland had a solid game off the bench, taking care of the ball. Cleland scored eight points.
Clark hosts Grays Harbor at 5 p.m. Wednesday before a nine-day holiday break.
WOMEN: Wenatchee Valley 63, Clark 39 — The Penguins finished the Wenatchee crossover 1-2 after the loss on Sunday to the host team.
Wenatchee Valley (5-5) lead 21-8 after the first quarter and never looked back. The Knights outrebounded Clark 32-14 in the game.
Union High grad Mailia Aguigui led the Penguins (3-6) in scoring with 13 points.
Clark is now off until Dec. 29 when the Penguins host Tacoma.
