County to modify traffic light at NE 199th, 72nd

Battle Ground – Clark County will modify a traffic signal at the intersection of Northeast 72nd Avenue and Northeast 199th Street in late December or early January.

Once the signal is modified, eastbound vehicles will have a green light and left-turn arrow while westbound vehicles are stopped by a red light. Another signal cycle will give a green light and left-turn arrow to westbound traffic while eastbound drivers wait at a red.

The move is aimed at improving traffic safety, but it means drivers will likely face longer delays at the intersection, which saw 29 car crashes between 2011 and 2015 — several of them resulting in injuries, according to a news release.

Temporary signs around the intersection will notify drivers to the changes.
