A man reportedly jumped from the Interstate 5 Bridge around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, and while police and fire boats responded, he was not found.
Officials responded to a report from a witness who saw a man disrobe and jump from the bridge, Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn said.
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and Portland Fire & Rescue sent boats into the river to search for the man, but had to give up the search after a time.
He’s presumed drowned, Portland Fire & Rescue Lt. Rich Tyler said.
The response temporarily blocked a lane of traffic over the bridge, Finn said.
