County Councilors Blom, Quiring to take oath Dec. 29

A new era in Clark County politics officially begins later this month when two new councilors are sworn into office.

At 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, John Blom and Eileen Quiring will officially take their oaths of office at a ceremony in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

Blom defeated Councilor David Madore in the August primary and Eileen Quiring was elected to the seat of Tom Mielke, who is retiring.

Blom and Quiring are both Republicans with backgrounds in real estate. Both have stated a desire to bring a more conciliatory tone to the county, a reversal from the ongoing feuds Madore and Mielke have had with staff and the rest of the council.
