Vancouver and Portland officers searched a Vancouver home Thursday as part of a Portland assault investigation.

Portland officers arrested a man Wednesday in connection to an assault case. Elijah Laray Thomas, 33, was arrested by gang enforcement officers following a traffic stop at Northeast Bryant Street and Grand Avenue in Portland, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

During the stop, officers found a loaded handgun inside his vehicle. Thomas has a felony record and is prohibited from possessing firearms, police said.

He was booked on charges of third-degree assault, possessing a firearm as a felon and unlawful firearm possession.

The next day, Vancouver officers assisted investigators with serving a search warrant at a home in the 6000 block of Northeast 33rd Circle in the Meadow Homes neighborhood.

There, officers took a rifle and shotgun as evidence, police said.
