Music

Camas-Washougal Community Orchestra seeks new players in all sections, open to all ages and skill levels. The orchestra plays a variety of music, including classical and pop, and presents two concerts each year, directed by Tatiana Kolchanova. Columbia River Sweet Adelines Chorus seeks women 16 and older for four-part harmony. The ability to read music is not required. Junior Symphony of Vancouver seeks young musicians of Southwest Washington and Oregon to join the symphony. Vancouver Community Concert Band seeks all brass, woodwind and percussion players, active and retired. All abilities welcome, no audition required. The volunteer community band, along with its polka band, Dixieland Jazz Band and chamber ensembles, performs regularly around the area. Angst Gallery seeks work for its annual “Celebration of the Male Form” group show, highlighting the human male figure in art, to appreciate the form and explore gender biases. Up to three piece of work can be submitted for free, with all mediums considered. The PDX Bridge Festival will host an essay contest titled “My Interstate Bridge Adventure,” as part of the celebration honoring the 100th anniversary of the Interstate 5 Bridge. Kids and adults can compete for cash prizes in age brackets of 9 to 13, 14 to 18, and 19 and older. The celebration will be held Feb. 11 at the Red Lion on the River – Jantzen Beach, 909 N.
