Washougal — Washougal High School and Jemtegaard Middle School students will have their artwork displayed in the school district office starting soon. Previously, selected student art was put on display at the high school’s Blue Note Concert Series, held in the auditorium, and this year, once the concerts are complete, the artwork will move to the Washougal School District office so more people can enjoy the art. District staff were asked to vote for their favorite pieces on display, and the first artists recognized were Conner Grant, a junior at Washougal High School, and Amara Farah, a Jemtegaard eighth-grader. Grant drew a graphite illustration of an alien by pulling from his surroundings, mimicking the shapes of things like door handles, a watch, bolts and computer chips. Farah was honored for her watercolor landscape and graphite self-portrait. “Art is my escape, and it is how I show my emotions,” Farah said in a release from the district. “I feel so special.”
