La Center – La Center Elementary School’s inaugural Blanket Drive wraps up Friday. The school is collecting blankets in the main office, 700 E. Fourth St., La Center, through 3:30 p.m. Friday.

The school’s Parent Teacher Organization is looking for handmade blankets, including no-sew, quilts and afghans, which they can then donate to children in need. The school teamed up for the drive with Project Linus, a national organization which looks to provide new, handmade blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need.
