Snow falling in Clark County, some Battle Ground schools delayed

Snow is falling in Clark County and schools in the north part of the Battle Ground School District are on a 2.5 hour delay, the district announced this morning.

Schools affected include: Battle Ground High School, Tukes Valley Primary and Middle, Amboy Middle, Yacolt Primary, Summit View High School, River HomeLink and CAM Academy. Additionally, Firm Foundation Christian is also on a 2.5 hour delay.

Morning classes for head start programs in Yacolt have been canceled and afternoon preschool in the Hockinson School District has also been canceled, with schools on snow routes.

Hockinson also canceled all after school activities.

Woodland Public Schools is reporting that Little Kalama River Road and Shirley Gordon Road are also on snow routes.

The Washougal School District altered several afternoon bus routes for snow.

Snow was seen falling in downtown Vancouver and Salmon Creek just before 10 a.m. today.

In a special weather advisory issued at 9:45 a.m. today, the National Weather Service said that a band of heavy snow will affect the region. The advisory said that snow will briefly cover roads in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect through 1 p.m. today, though the precipitation is expected to become rain later this afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach a high near 40 degrees, according to the weather service.
