Battle Ground’s William Jones said he’s thankful for the outpouring of support after his missing dog, Hunter, was mistakenly re-adopted, and for the help of the Humane Society for Southwest Washington through the ordeal of getting him back.
He also expressed remorse over the massive, and often vitriolic, deluge of online commentary directed at the Humane Society and the family that adopted Hunter.
“When I posted photos and my plea to get my dog, Hunter, back last week, I had no idea it would go viral,” he wrote on a Facebook page the Humane Society created for Hunter’s story.

Sticky’s Pot Shop in Hazel Dell must stop selling marijuana.
Superior Court Judge Daniel Stahnke ruled Tuesday that John Larson, owner of a recreational marijuana store at 9411 N.E. Highway 99, must immediately stop selling recreational marijuana. Larson opened the shop in unincorporated Clark County in violation of the county’s ban on recreational pot sales late last year.
However, the store remained open for business as of Thursday afternoon. Larson said he intends to appeal the case to the Washington Court of Appeals.

If you’re in an emergency situation and you just can’t call, you can now text 911.
The text-to-911 capability launched Tuesday in Clark County and six other counties in Oregon, making it possible for people using cell phones to communicate with a dispatcher if speaking isn’t an option.
Using the motto “Call if you can, text if you can’t,” the program was publicly announced after 18 months of coordination with various government agencies.

The popular TV show “Portlandia” is apparently filming in Vancouver today.
Film crews were spotted this morning at the Clark County Courthouse and across West 11th Street outside a bail bonds office. They apparently shot scenes in a courtroom on the fourth floor of the courthouse before occupying the block of Grant Street between West Evergreen Boulevard and West 11th Street.
The seventh season of the sketch comedy is currently in production, to be aired on cable’s IFC channel. It stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, according to the film website IMDB.com.

It has taken more than a year for Paul Rawlings to piece together Vancouver’s newest gymnastics facility.
But the Southern Washington Academy of Gymnastics — scheduled to open this month — is a dream that hatched almost by chance more than two decades ago when Rawlings went to pick up his twin sister from a gymnastics practice.
Within a week he was coaching at Naydenov Gymnastics, beginning a journey that continues as he opens his own facility.
