Weather Eye: Relief coming this weekend, next week; fall on its way

We managed to chalk up another 90 degree day Wednesday as the new heatwave is on. Today we see 95 and upper 90s Friday before we cool off once again.

I mentioned on Tuesday I thought it would be between 90 and 95 through Friday which is still a good guess but with offshore east winds it should go higher. Hopefully not 100.

Driving on state Highway 14 into Vancouver yesterday I could really see signs of autumn approaching. Have you? The trees are changing colors, the grass is dead brown and even leaves are dropping and blowing through the breezes.

Things are dry which stress the trees to some extent but still the seasons are in a transition. Summer is hitting home runs but we have seen a few mornings with the lows dipping in the lower to mid-40s.

So many people have commented over the years that autumn is their favorite time of the year. I must agree. Nature gets ready for the long dark winter months and the various fall festivities. Back to school, back to work, back to routines. The autumn rains begin at some point and yet we still have some beautiful days of fall mixed in as well.

Not to mention no need to run the air conditioner and fans. Bundle up and breathe the fresh air after a rain storm.

Different types of weather for each season keep us sane and ready to endure yet another season of change. Change is good. That is why many love living here in the great Northwest. Probably the best weather anywhere.

Keep cool, relief is on the way over the weekend and next week.
