Five Corners — Colleen Garrison was named new president of the Clark County Quilters. Garrison has been quilting since she was 4 after learning from her grandmother, and she kept it up, winning 4-H competitions in clothing. She has worked as a teacher for the past 16 years. The group’s first meeting of the upcoming season is Sept. 8, and the guest speaker will be Rose Hughes, a quilter for 20-plus years, who will lecture on “Embellishment Scavenger Hunt.” The Clark County Quilters have nearly 500 members and meet the second Thursday of each month September through June.
