A Battle Ground man was injured in a rear-end vehicle crash Monday evening on state Highway 503 in Brush Prairie.

Harold Burdsall, 74, of Battle Ground, was driving a maroon 2007 Toyota Corolla north on the highway at about 7:15 p.m. when he stopped at a railroad crossing for a C-Tran bus near Northeast 149th Street, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A northbound 2013 Chevrolet Sonic driven by Tatum Makenzie, 21, of Vancouver, failed to slow to a stop as it approached the railroad crossing and struck the Toyota, troopers said.

Burdsall was injured and taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. His condition was not available.

Investigators said that driver inattention caused the crash, and troopers cited Makenzie for speeding.
