GRAND RONDE, ORE. — The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, which owns the Spirit Mountain Casino south of Portland, says revenues will fall 41 percent as a result of the Cowlitz casino project moving forward.
The Statesman Journal newspaper of Salem, Ore., reported that tribe contends the Cowlitz casino will cause a loss of just over $100 million of the Grand Ronde’s estimated $244 million annual revenue stream, which is generated largely by Spirit Mountain Casino.
The Cowlitz Tribe recently won a federal appeal over their reservation, where the $510 million Ilani Resort is under construction and set to open in April.
