Vancouver – Downtown Vancouver homeless shelter Open House Ministries will host its annual Community Block Party on Aug 25. The free festivities bring together neighbors, friends, people who used to stay at Open House and those grappling with homelessness.

Between 3 and 6 p.m., there will be a barbecue, resource fair, sidewalk sale, a bounce house for kids and music at the shelter, 900 W. 12th St. New this year is a veterinary clinic put on by Banfield Pet Hospital and the Banfield Foundation, which will offer pet vaccinations, microchips, nail care and check-ups. Dogs have to be on a leash and cats must be in a carrier.
