OLYMPIA — A new poll shows that U.S. Sen. Patty Murray holds an 18-point lead over Republican challenger Chris Vance.
In the latest survey released Tuesday by independent pollster Stuart Elway, Murray leads 52 percent to 34 percent. In the state’s ‘top two’ primary earlier this month, Murray garnered 54 percent of the vote compared to Vance’s 28 percent.
In most statewide races, Democrats are leading, though many voters are still undecided. Republicans are guaranteed a win in the state treasurer’s race, since two Republican candidates advanced through the primary. And Republican Secretary of state Kim Wyman is leading in her race, the poll showed.
The Elway survey of 500 registered voters was conducted by phone Aug. 9-13. The margin of error was plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.
The general election is Nov. 8.
