Portland – A longtime fundraiser for the Northwest Down Syndrome Association is coming Sept. 24 to the Moda Center. The 18th annual Portland Metro and Southwest Washington Buddy Walk Festival promotes acceptance and inclusion of people with disabilities, including Down syndrome.

Each year about 2,000 people participate. This year’s guest speaker is Megan Bomgaars, an advocate and cast member of the A&E documentary series “Born This Way.”

Participating in the Buddy Walk costs $14 for adults and $7 for children, including a T-shirt, food and entertainment. Visit www.nwdsa.org for more information.
