Junior golf: Tibbits helps Oregon team win Hogan Cup title

The Oregon I team, with Fort Vancouver’s Spencer Tibbits, won the Eddie Hogan Cup Team Matches by eight strokes on Sunday at Riverside Golf & Country Club in Portland.

Oregon I shot 5-under par on Sunday to beat out second-place Southern California, which finished with a total of plus-8. Washington was third at plus-10.

Tibbits shot a 1-over-par 73 on Sunday to finish 4-over for the two-day event that featured the best junior golfers in the Western U.S. and Canada in a four-man team format.

OREGON PUBLIC LINKS CHAMPIONSHIP — Recent Union High grad Taylor Hartley tied for eighth with a 15-over-par 159 total for the two-day event at Emerald Valley in Creswell, Ore. She shot 8-over in the Sunday’s final round. Haleigh Krause of Eugene won with a 1-under total.

In the men’s championship, Camas grad David Patterson finished 29th at 12-over. Landon Joy of Hudson’s Bay tied for 34th, and Clayton Rajewich of King’s Way Christian was 46th.
