1. Final days at the fair

Don’t miss out on the big events at the Clark County Fair in its final weekend, including the Demo Derby at 2 and 7 p.m. in the Grandstand and the Jackpot Barrel Races at 8 p.m., both Aug. 12. On Aug. 13, see the Junior Livestock Auction at 11 a.m. in the Beef Arena, the Toddler Trot at 11:30 a.m. in the Kid’s Park, the cheeseburger eating contest at 1 p.m. on the community stage, the equestrian drill teams at 3 p.m. and the Tuff Trucks at 2 and 7 p.m. in the Grandstand. Aug. 14 closes out the fair with the pie eating contest at 1 p.m. on the community stage and the Monster Trucks at 2 and 7 p.m. in the Grandstand. The fair is open 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Aug. 12-13 and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 14. at the fairgrounds, 17402 N.E. Delfel Road, Ridgefield. All events are free with admission, which is $11.25, $9.25 for seniors, $8.25 for ages 7 to 12 and free for ages 6 and younger. Parking is $6. www.clarkcofair.com

2. Summer concerts

It’s time for Winestock, billed by Three Brothers Winery as a day of wine, music and peace from noon to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 13. The annual memorial concert for Greg Stiwell will feature multiple bands and musicians, with proceeds going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Performances will include Les Cellar Rats, Brenna Stilwell and Drastic Measures. Wine, water and food will be available for purchase at the winery, 2411 N.E. 244th St., Ridgefield. The Port of Camas-Washougal will host its summer Riverside Concert featuring music by Rocket 88 and Johnny Limbo & the Lugnuts. Rocket 88 draws from five decades of popular music across genres as they perform from 6 to 7 p.m. Johnny Limbo & the Lugnuts will embrace the early era of rock and roll with familiar tunes. The concert runs 6 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 13 at Marina Park, Port of Camas-Washougal, 24 S. A St., Washougal. Admission is free; blankets and lawn chairs are recommended. 360-835-2196 or portcw.com

Local musicians Amber Sweeney and Montgomery-Jones will perform a summer concert, with a portion of food and beverage sales benefiting Rocksolid Community Teen Center. There also will be a live auction for a winery tasting tour. Doors open at 4 p.m., with the concert at 5 p.m. Aug. 14 at Moulton Falls Winery, 31101 N.E. Railroad Ave., Yacolt. Tickets are $10. 3. Timeless techniques

It’s Traditional Technology Day at the Cathlapotle Plankhouse, with demonstrations and hands-on activities to help visitors connect with Native culture and wildlife from noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Carty Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, 28908 N.W. Main Ave., Ridgefield. Students from the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde’s Lifeways class will demonstrate carving, weaving and Native art design. Outside the plankhouse, visitors can try throwing an atlatl, shooting a bow and arrow, creating fire and more. At noon, a naturalist-led hike will focus on the language of birds, highlighting bird calls and behavior. The hike at 2 p.m. will take participants down the Oaks to Wetlands Trail and will explore how Native peoples worked with and cared for the ecosystem. 4. Bicycle races

The Vancouver Courthouse Criterium returns from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 13, with the eight-corner cycling racetrack set up around the courthouse. The event is organized by the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association, and this year’s race also will serve as the association’s Criterium Championship. Race categories include men, women, juniors and seniors. Day-of-race registration opens at 8:15 a.m. at the Clark County Courthouse, 1200 Franklin St., Vancouver. Admission is free for spectators, with $30 for race registration, $10 for youth registration and $15 for additional races. 5. Falling stardust

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry hosts its largest star party of the year for the Perseid Meteor Shower. Weather permitting, visitors can watch the annual meteor shower starting at 9 p.m. Aug. 12 at Rooster Rock State Park, Exit 25, Highway 84, Corbett, Ore. The Rose City and Vancouver Sidewalk astronomers will provide telescopes for attendees. Warm clothing and a flashlight with red light are recommended. Personal telescopes and binoculars are welcome.
