Additional Vancouver and Battle Ground police officers will be out on patrol this weekend to look for impaired drivers, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

The department encouraged those going out to ensure they have a safe way to get home instead of getting behind the wheel drunk or high.

Funding for the extra patrols — which have been going on throughout the year, along with an ad campaign — comes from a grant to the county from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.

The department said the ride-sharing service Uber is offering first-time users a special coupon code for $25 toward their first trip. Sign up for the Uber coupon code RIDEHOMEVANC at https://get.uber.com/go/ridehomevanc.
