The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is warning area residents about several recent hoax kidnapping calls.

Deputies took a report Wednesday from a woman who received an alarming call on her cellphone from the phone number 656-322-5468.

The reporting party told deputies that the voice on the other end of the call was a young woman crying and sobbing, claiming she’d been kidnapped, according to the sheriff’s office. A man’s voice was heard in the background demanding money and claiming he would kill the woman, police said.

Deputies learned that the number is invalid and had been reported in numerous similar fake kidnap calls made to random members of the public nationwide.

A couple other similar incidents were reported recently in Clark County as well, the sheriff’s office said.

The agency advised that anyone receiving a call originating from the number should know the  call is likely a scam and immediately hang up.
