Private timber lands closing to public access

BINGEN — Six local private timber companies have announced their lands in Skamania, Klickitat, Hood River, Wasco and Yakima counties will be closed to public entry beginning Saturday due to high fire danger.

The companies include Broughton Lumber Co., Hancock Forest Management, Western Pacific Timber, SDS, Kreps Ranch and Kreps Family LLC.

Jeremy Grose, forester for SDS Lumber Co. in Bingen, said the closure totals about 200,000 acres.
