La Center — La Center High School student Kira Hall-Sass will ring in the new year a few hours earlier than her friends from home, as she was one of more than 650 high school cheerleaders and dancers to perform in the London New Year’s Day Parade.

The high schoolers heading to London were nominated for the trip after being selected as an All-American from one of the Varsity Spirit summer camps. There are more than 5,000 Varsity Spirit camps with 325,000-plus cheerleaders and dancers participating in them.

Hall-Sass and the other performers will spend seven days in England and have a chance to tour some historic sites.

In a release from Varsity Spirit, Hall-Sass said it was an honor to be picked and represent La Center in the parade.
