Humphreys ties for third at Oregon Stroke Play Championship

Camas High grad Brian Humphreys finished strong with two birdies Sunday, but he had to settle for a third-place tie at the Oregon Men’s Stroke Play Championship on Sunday at Centennial Golf Club in Medford, Ore.

Humphreys, who led by one shot after the second round, shot 1-under-par 71 in the final round to finish in three-way tie for third at 8-under for the tournament.

Kevin Geniza of Corvallis, Ore., made a birdie on the first playoff hole to beat Charlie Hillier of Oregon City, for the title. Both finished tied a 9-under.

Hockinson High grad Jarred Gomez finished tied for 11th.

In the Senior division, Vancouver’s Gregg Guernsey and Brad Karns finished tied for fourth at 1-over. Pat O’Donnell of Happy Valley, Ore., won by 11 shots at 14-under.
