Four people were critically injured Saturday evening when two cars collided on Northeast 259th Street near Ridgefield, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred at about 7 p.m. in the 4400 block of 259th Street when an eastbound Mazda 6 sedan passing in no-passing zone crashed head-on into a westbound Mini Cooper, according to a bulletin from the sheriff’s office.

Rescue crews from Clark County Fire & Rescue had to extricate two adult occupants out of each vehicle. All four occupants were transported to a hospital in critical condition, the bulletin said.

The identities of those involved in the crash were not released Sunday.

The bulletin said an investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is ongoing.
