Clark County citizens who care about environmental conservation with a passion for volunteerism are encouraged to join the Clark Public Utilities Stream Team and to commit 45 hours of their time.

Steam Team Stewards participate in free classes and workshops about native plants, stream restoration and wildlife, then use their knowledge to support the utility’s environmental efforts.

Stewards are asked to commit at least 45 hours of service in exchange for the educational classes, which are open to locals from a variety of backgrounds.

Classes begin at 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. on six Saturdays and 6 to 8:30 p.m. on five Tuesdays; all are held from Sept. 24 until Nov. 5. An optional leadership training course is offered Saturday, Oct. 15.

After finishing the courses, stewards lead school presentations on salmon conservation, organizing tree planting groups, combating invasive plants and more. Those who already attended the classes are also invited to return.

Space is limited. Submit applications at www.streamstewards.net; or contact Ashley at StreamTeam@clarkpud.com or 360-992-8585.
