It’s the first weekend of the Clark County Fair, and there’s plenty to see and do. If you’re craving that ice cream, a ride on the Ferris wheel or a spin through the cow barn, the festivities will be open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday at the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds, 17402 N.E. Delfel Road, Ridgefield. Admission is $11.25, $9.25 for seniors, $8.25 for ages 7 to 12 and free for ages 6 and younger. Parking is $6. It’ll be a popular concert scene with Trace Adkins performing at 7 p.m. tonight and the Los Lonely Boys at 5 p.m. Sunday, free with fair admission. www.clarkcofair.com

Original Practice Shakespeare Festival will bring the world of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” to Esther Short Park. The Saturdays in the Park concert series concludes with local band Harvest Gold performing it’s tribute to the songs and styles of Neil Young, at 6 to 8 p.m. at Sternwheeler Park’s amphitheater and gazebo, 100 E. Fourth St., La Center. Admission is free. www.pro-mompg.com

Join the Friends of Fort Vancouver, the U.S. Forest Service and the National Park Service for a celebration of Smokey Bear, with a mini film, books and memorabilia from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 9. Birthday cake and lemonade will be served on the veranda when Smokey makes his appearance at the Visitor Center of the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, 1501 E. Evergreen Blvd., Vancouver. The Vancouver Brewfest will feature more than 50 breweries, cideries and meaderies from the Pacific Northwest offering a variety of brews to try. Proceeds from the festival will benefit Northwest Battle Buddies, Second Chance Companions and the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans. Meanwhile, the Cosmo 7K All Ladies Run features cocktails at the finish line, as participants head from downtown Vancouver to along the Columbia River. The race is a fundraiser for the Pink Lemonade Project, empowering those affected by breast cancer, and the Fort Vancouver Trust. The Port of Camas-Washougal will host its Riverside Concert featuring music by Rocket 88 and Johnny Limbo & the Lugnuts at 6 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 13, 24 S. A St. Washougal. Rocket 88 will draw from five decades of popular music across genres as they perform from 6 to 7 p.m. While Johnny Limbo & the Lugnuts embrace the early era of rock with familiar tunes. The annual Providence Bridge Pedal will take place Aug. 14, with routes that will take participants across 11 bridges in Portland with the Fremont Express, plus 10-, 8-, 6-bridge rides, a kids pedal and a 5-mile bridge stride. La Center Our Days community celebration kicks off with its annual Twilight Parade at 8 p.m. Aug. 19, with an “Under the Sea” theme. Community groups, businesses, bands, cars, horses and more will glow during the parade which travels from La Center High School to Fourth Street and ending at Fifth and Dogwood. Be part of the action as “robbers” stop and board the train to steal passengers’ coins and jewelry during the Chelatchie Prairie Railroad Train Robbery ride.
