Ridgefield – The Clark Regional Wastewater District announced the grand opening of the first phase of the Discovery Corridor Wastewater Transmission System, which was completed after more than a decade of planning and two years of construction.

The transmission system is a 20-year, multi-phase program designed to move wastewater from the Ridgefield Urban Growth Area to the Salmon Creek Wastewater Management System. Phase 1 of the project includes a new wastewater pipeline to connect Ridgefield’s Interstate 5 junction area to the Salmon Creek wastewater system. The phase was completed on time and on budget, according to a news release.

Officials say the $29 million investment is crucial for the region’s continued growth.

The Discovery Corridor increases Ridgefield’s wastewater capacity and facilitates economic development.

A grand opening was held Wednesday to mark the project’s successful completion and included a ceremonial pump station system launch.
