Firefighters could see heavy smoke ahead as they drove up the hill responding to a fire that heavily damaged a garage Thursday afternoon in east Brush Prairie.

Firefighters were called to 11919 N.E. Sliderberg Road around 4 p.m.

Clark County Fire District 3 Chief Steve Wrightson said firefighters found ample smoke and fire coming from an attached garage at the home there.

Firefighters were able to beat back the fire in roughly 20 minutes and kept it from spreading to the house.

“Lots of smoke into the attic, but not into the bedrooms and the ground floor,” he said.

A Nissan Titan pickup was parked near the garage and likely totaled, the district said.

The district said the fire may have started in an electrical panel in the garage. The fire was being investigated by the Clark County Fire Marshal.

No injuries were reported.

The Red Cross said it helped one adult and three pets with temporary housing and other emergency needs.
