Esther Short — Furry Friends’ Meow the Night Away fundraiser on July 23 at the Vancouver Eagles Lodge brought in $730 for the Vancouver-based cat shelter.

The money will go toward the recently purchased halfway house for cats and kittens. The building needs a new roof, upgrades to the electrical and plumbing systems, and repairs to bring it up to Americans With Disabilities Act code.

The shelter is also looking for donations of services, goods and money to further its mission. Next up is its biggest fundraiser of the year, the My Fair Kitty Dinner and Auction on Sept. 17 at the Firstenburg Community Center in Vancouver.
