Hazel Dell — For the second straight year, the Diamonds in the Ruff 4-H dog club collected items for Dr. David Slocum at the Hazel Dell Animal Hospital for its community project.

This year, the group donated more than 300 pounds of dog and cat food, 10 cases of water, leashes, collars and collapsible bowls for animals, as well as blankets, tarps, socks, travel-size soaps, shampoos and lotions for homeless people.

Slocum gives free veterinary care to the animals of homeless people through Share, a nonprofit agency that aids the hungry and homeless, and the Pets of the Homeless in Vancouver.
