More than 800 pieces of art will be displayed May 3 to 24 at Battle Ground Public Schools’ 57th annual district art show at Captain Strong Primary School, 1002 N.W. Sixth Ave., Battle Ground.

The art show celebrates the work of student artists from all grade levels. Artwork include 3-D sculptures, ceramics, drawings, digital art, photography and paintings.

The event was founded by the late Bob Peck, who taught art classes at Battle Ground High School for 37 years.

The public is invited to view the art from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 3 to 24 on school days.

A public reception for student artists and their families begins at 4:30 p.m. May 9 at Captain Strong. First-place, grand-prize and best of show winners will be recognized at a 6 p.m. school board meeting May 9. The school will be open until 8 p.m. after the meeting to view the art.
