CASTLE ROCK — Interstate 5 drivers should look to businesses in Castle Rock if they need some relief from the road this week.
The Toutle River rest areas on the north and south sides of the interstate at Milepost 54 just north of Castle Rock are closed until 5 p.m. Friday.
During the closures, Washington Department of Transportation maintenance staff will work on the buildings’ plumbing and perform safety inspections. Work is being done now before the travel season begins. The Toutle River facilities are among the state’s most popular. Based on the number of toilet flushes, WSDOT estimates about 2.19 million people stop each year.
