Fake voter pamphlets criticizing lawmaker appear in Portland

PORTLAND — Portland residents have received fake “Voters’ Pamphlet Guides” that criticize incumbent House Speaker Tina Kotek.

KATU-TV reports that the pamphlets, which have only been delivered to people living in Oregon’s District 44 in North Portland, look legitimate but clearly favor Oregon House candidate Sharon Nasset.

The fake pamphlet lists the two Democratic candidates, breaking down their stances. At the end of Nasset’s breakdown the pamphlet reads “thank you.” For Kotek the flyer says “Tina will work with anyone to accomplish her agenda!”

It is unclear who made and distributed the mini-booklet. In an April 19 Facebook post, Nasset said she knows that because the flyer supports her, she is responsible. She said she is sorry if anyone felt insulted or deceived, but that the flyer was clearly not an official mailer.
