Volunteers are needed to assist postal employees during the annual National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger food drive Saturday, May 14. Volunteers are primarily needed in Vancouver where there are more walking routes, said Don Young, a retired letter carrier who’s coordinating the food drive. However, volunteers are needed across Clark County, he said.

Volunteers use their own vehicles — preferably, a truck, trailer or SUV — to pick up bags of donated food along a carrier’s route. The shift starts around 10 a.m. and goes for a couple of hours.

The annual National Association of Letter Carriers food drive is the largest single food drive in the United States. In Clark County, it’s the second-largest food drive behind Walk & Knock. Call Young at 360-694-7163 for more information about volunteering.
