Ridgefield outlasts R.A. Long in 11 innings

Kevin Miser’s fifth hit of the game lifted the Ridgefield baseball team to a 4-3 win over visiting R.A. Long in an 11-inning battle on Monday.

With the win, the Spudders jumped past the Lumberjacks and into a tie for first place in the Class 2A Greater St. Helens League.

Ridgefield rallied in the seventh inning and again in the ninth inning to extend the game. R.A. Long took a 1-0 lead in the top of the seventh and a 3-1 lead in the top of the ninth.

Caleb Robbins opened the 11th with a bunt single. Brian Gillenwater followed with a single and an intentional walk loaded the bases. With two strikes, Miser hit a line drive to left to score Robbins.

Miser finished 5 for 6 with two doubles and three RBI. He had a two-run double with two outs in the ninth to extend the game. Boston Clark had two hits, a run and an RBI.

Ridgefield improved to 5-1 in league play, tied with Hockinson atop the 2A GSHL standings. R.A. Long is 4-2 in league play.
