Eleven Clark County schools have earned Washington Achievement Awards for 2015. In all, 258 schools across the state were recognized as the highest-performing schools based on statewide assessment data for the previous three years.

The awards use the State Board of Education Revised Achievement Index, which measures school performance, emphasizing improvement and recognition. The Achievement Index is the only statewide school accountability system recognized by both the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education. Educators, families, and community members can use the Index to identify areas of strength and improvement in Washington’s schools. This is the seventh year of the Washington Achievement Awards.

Schools are being recognized in seven categories: overall excellence, high progress, English language arts growth, math growth, extended graduation rate, English language acquisition and achievement gap. The schools will be recognized at a May 10 ceremony.

Clark County schools recognized as Washington Achievement Award winners are listed by school district:

• Battle Ground: Captain Strong Elementary, high progress; Laurin Middle School, English language acquisition.

• Camas: Grass Valley Elementary, English language arts growth; Helen Baller Elementary, high progress, English language arts growth; Lacamas Heights Elementary, high progress; Liberty Middle School, overall excellence, English language arts growth, math growth; Skyridge Middle School, overall excellence, math growth.
