Save the Date: Go for the green with fun activities for Earth Day

Spend time in the outdoors at the free Earth Day Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Klineline Pond, Salmon Creek Park, 1482 N.E. 117th St., Vancouver. The Chief Redheart Memorial Ceremony will remember Chief Redheart and his band of Nez Perce at 10 a.m. April 23, with tribal singing in honor of the ancestors, a Riderless Horse Ceremony, sacred pipe ceremony and recognition of all veterans at the parade grounds of Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, 1001 E. The Clark County Food Bank hosts its popular fundraiser, Tacos and Taps, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. May 6 at the Clark County Food Bank, 6502 N.E. 47th Ave., Vancouver. The event features gourmet tacos created by 10 local chefs paired with 10 local brewers for a night of unlimited tacos, beer and live music. The proceeds benefit the food bank’s Hunger Heroes program, which is aimed at alleviating hunger in the community. The Master Gardener Foundation of Clark County will be hosting its yearly plant sale 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 7 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 8. Kids Fishing Festival will show kids ages 5 to 14 how to fish, use tackle and cast a line into the trout pound with the help of fishing mentors from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 7 at Columbia Springs, 12208 S.E.
