The Clark College baseball team completed a four-game weekend sweep of Clackamas on Saturday and leaped into first place in the NWAC South region.
The Penguins (11-14, 9-3 South) swept a doubleheader at Clackamas 13-3 and 8-3.
Chris Carns (3-2) pitched a complete-game three-hitter in the first game for Clark, striking out 10 and walking three.
Battle Ground High grad Ian Humphrey was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI.
Also, Alex Rivera was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI, Brandon Zimmerman was 2 for 4 with a double and RBI, and Brendan Griffith was 1 for 3 with two RBI. (Click here for game 1 complete boxscore)
Mountain View High grad Zach Torson (3-3) picked up the victory in the second game, pitching two innings of relief with three strikeouts.
Humphrey was 1 for 3, and Marco Murillo was 2 for 3 with a triple among Clark’s six hits. (Click here for game 2 complete boxscore)
Clark next has a non-NWAC game against the Linfield JV scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday at Kindsfather Field, and then returns to NWAC play on Friday and Saturday against Lane. Friday’s games are at Kindsfather Field beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday’s games are at Eugene.
