Weekend shuttle buses scheduled to Dog Mountain trailhead

STEVENSON — A bus shuttle from the Rock Creek Fairgrounds in Stevenson to the Dog Mountain trailhead will operate Saturdays and Sundays through June 12.

The shuttle starts at 10:15 a.m. at Rock Creek Fairgrounds parking lot and continues until 4:15 p.m. The fare will be $1 each way. The trip takes 15 minutes.

Dog Mountain trailhead is at milepost 53 along state Highway 14 in Skamania County. Although there is a large parking lot at the trailhead, it gets overwhelmed with vehicles during the peak wildflower bloom in May and early June on Dog Mountain.

Parking will be restricted this year to 75 cars at the trailhead, so visitors are encouraged to use the shuttle. The bus is Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible and has bike racks.
