Indigenous speakers to participate in talk at WSUV

Two panels featuring indigenous students and community leaders will speak at “Legacies of the Past in the Present” on April 20 at Washington State University Vancouver in the Dengerink Administration Building, Room 110, 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave. Both sessions are free and open to the public.

• 4 to 5 p.m.: Indigenous students will speak on problems they have encountered in higher education, and discuss solutions with audience members.

• 6 to 8 p.m.: Local indigenous community leaders will speak about how past events continue to affect their lives, and they will engage audience stories, questions and responses. Panelists: Becky Archibald, Shoshone-Bannock/Sierra Miwok; Tanna Engdahl, Cowlitz; Sam Robinson, Chinook; and Roben White, Cheyenne/Lakota.

The event is sponsored by WSU Vancouver, the Clark County Historical Museum, the Portland Art Museum, Portland State University and the University of Oregon.

Parking is available at meters and in the Blue Daily Pay lot for $3.
