A Vancouver construction worker accused of threatening a co-worker with a hammer Friday made a first appearance Monday in Clark County Superior Court.

Daniel L. Forsyth, 42, appeared on suspicion of second-degree assault.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Forsyth and Luke Reudink were working together when Reudink challenged Forsyth about the quality of his work. Forsyth became upset, climbed down a ladder and threatened Reudink with a hammer, the affidavit said.

Reudink said he tackled Forsyth to avoid being attacked, the affidavit said.

On Monday, Judge Derek Vanderwood appointed Forsyth a defense attorney and set his bail at $20,000, court records show.

Forsyth will be arraigned April 22.
