Chuck Engle won Sunday’s Blooms to Brews marathon in Woodland with a time of 2 hours, 45 minutes and 13 seconds.
Known as the Marathon Junkie, Engle has won hundreds of marathons including both editions of the Blooms to Brews full marathon.
The women’s marathon winner on Sunday was Jessica Knoll, 23. Her time of 3:19:49 was the 16th fastest among the 154 runners and walkers who completed the marathon course.
Ethan Komoroski, 24, won the half marathon with a time of 1 hour, 22 minutes and 30 seconds. Laura Min was the first female finisher of the half marathon (1:30:52). The 27-year-old was eighth place overall among the 365 runners and walkers who completed the half marathon.
Joe Dedman, 51, won the 10-kilometer Blooms to Brews race with a time of 38 minutes and 16 seconds. Lauren Erso, 26, placed third overall and was the first woman to finish the 10-K. Her time was 43:18. A total of 316 runners and walkers completed the 10-kilometer course.
A total of 40 four-runner teams completed the Blooms to Brews marathon relay. A team called Hunted by Cougars won with a time of 2:32:29. The runners were Mike Allen, Josh Fry, Blake Gerttula and Alex Van Slyke.
Union rugby still unbeaten
Union High’s No. 1 team remained unbeaten in the Rugby Oregon Varsity Premiership division with a 41-6 win over Newberg on April 9. Union No. 2 lost to Lincoln 39-19.
A showdown between the Portland Pumas (3-0) and Union No. 1 (4-0) is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The match is the middle one in a triple-header at Laurin Middle School. At 10 a.m., Prairie battles Union No. 2 and at 1 p.m. Battle Ground takes on Summit High of Bend, Ore.
In the Club Championship Division for teams that draw players from multiple high schools, the Clark County Warriors lost on April 9 46-29 to the East Oregon Sasquatch in Pendleton, Ore. The Warriors (2-2) take on Southeast Portland at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Delta Park.
The Battle Ground girls rugby team faces Grant at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Delta Park. No result was reported for Battle Ground’s April 9 match.
Prairie equestrians riding high
The Prairie High School equestrian team had seven first-place finishes at the final district meet of its season, which took place Friday through Sunday in Spanaway.
After three district meets Prairie finished second in the overall team standings and the Falcons’ Kylie Vroman was the all-around high point champion. Vroman qualified for the Washington High School Equestrian Teams state meet in the bi-wrangle event. Vroman also qualified for state with teammates Paige Rinta, Josie Olson and Beca Thomas for in-hand obstacle relay.

Prep lacrosse season resumes
High school lacrosse season resumes this week in Clark County.
On Friday, Camas takes on Columbia River at 8 p.m. at Delta Park. On Saturday, Union hosts Southridge of Kennewick at 1 p.m. at Cardon Field at Camas High School.
On April 4, Union Lacrosse lost 8-7 to White River in a non-league match that featured seven lead changes. Isaiah Pratt led Union with three goals and two assists and Andrew Harrah had two goals. Pratt was named the Central-South Division player of the week for March 28-April 3, his second such honor this season.
Northpointe gymnasts shine at regionals
Emily Wilson and Taylor Weber from Northpointe Gymnastics in Vancouver qualified for the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympics Level 10 National Championships with their results at the Region 2 Championships.
Wilson placed second all-around at the regional meet among gymnasts born in 1998 between Feb. 9 and July 7. Her all-around score was 36.20. Wilson placed second on the balance beam and the uneven parallel bars and third on the vault and the floor exercise.
The Level 10 nationals take place May 7-8 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Weber took fifth all-around among girls born between Nov. 3, 2000 and May 5, 2001. She was second on the balance beam.
At Level 9, Sarah Ellis and Grace Gordon of Northpointe placed seventh in the all-around competition for their age groups and qualified to compete at the Western Nationals which take place April 29-May 1 at Missoula, Mont.
The regional meet took place March 30-April 2 in Pullman.
Obstacle race benefits PAL
An obstacle course 5-kilometer race will be held on April 30 in Ridgefield to benefit the Vancouver Police Activities League (PAL) and CHILL Portland.
The Race at the ROC will include 15 obstacles at the Ridgefield Obstacle Course, 22510 N.W. Cornell Dr.
Heats for uniformed personnel will start at 9 a.m. Heats for the public begin at 10 a.m. Cost to participate is $60. Participants receive a shirt and one free beverage from Heathen Brewing.

Dolezal, Mueller win CCRC run
Eric Dolezal won the Clark County Running Club’s Esther Short 5-kilometer Run on April 9. The 33-year-old Vancouver resident finished in 19 minutes. Katrina Meuller, 24, of Vancouver, was the first woman and finished in 20:15 for third place overall.
The CCRC will stage a hilly run at Round Lake Park in Camas starting at 10 a.m. this Saturday.
