Volunteers with the American Red Cross installed 122 free smoke alarms and provided fire-safety education to 50 households in Vancouver over the weekend, the organization announced Sunday in a press release.
The assistance was provided to people who might not be able to afford new smoke alarms.
The program, called the Home Fire Campaign, started in 2014 to reduce death and injury from home fires, the “single greatest disaster threat to individuals and families throughout the country,” the news release said.
