Esther Short — Roughly 3,650 people took part in the second spring edition of the Vancouver Brewfest, adding 500 more visitors March 18 and 19 at its new location, the Vancouver Landing Amphitheater. The event featured a variety of regional beers and other offerings from more than 50 different brewers, whiskey distillers, meaderies and cideries. “Many people say it was the best brewfest they’ve gone to,” said Cody Gray, the event organizer, in a press release. “The atmosphere, location and the weather all came together perfectly.” The increased turnout also allowed the nonprofit brewfest to double the charity donations it made in 2015. This year, $5,000 from the spring brewfest will be divvied up among Northwest Battle Buddies, Second Chance Companions and Disabled American Veterans. The growing turnout also builds momentum for the summer Vancouver Brewfest, which celebrates its fifth year in 2016. The summer event, which is also nonprofit, will is set for Aug. 12-14 at Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver.
